A drive started countrywide by the Federal Economic Recovery Aid for Education, according to the figures released by the Government board assigned with the task to keep track of the Aid's spending, has been credited for saving or creating over 7,000 jobs in public schools across Minnesota.
Figures reported by the Federal and state officials confirm that 7,400 full-time jobs related to teaching and school support staff have been a direct result of the drive. The numbers collected represented data till September end.
As a direct result of the drive, as many as 7,380 K-12 jobs have been saved or created, with a spending of $634 Million. The figures have been confirmed by the Minnesota Management and Budget officials.
According to Charlie Kyte, head of the Minnesota Association of School Administrators, the drive has helped keep safe as many as 1,000 school jobs.
