According to one of the new reports measurable levels of BPA were found in many canned foods which includes cans of juice and soup.
BPA is a chemical which is used in plastic bottles and food can-liners.
The report looked at 19 branded canned foods and it was published by Consumers Union in Consumer Reports.
Almost all the samples of canned food contained BPA as per the researchers including those packaged in BPA-free cans.
FDA has given its approval to this but has been asked since animal studies related it to abnormal reproductive development.
BPA should be removed from all materials that come in contact with food as per the experts at Consumer Union.
It was also revealed in the report that skipping metal cans and using other packaging, like plastic containers or bags might lower but not eliminate exposure to BPA.
The FDA is planning to release a new assessment of BPA safety soon. FDA's Center for Food Safety and Applied Nurtition's scientific staff has completed their draft review of extra studies which analyze the possible risk of low-dose BPA exposures.
This was done in accordance with the recommendations by the science board's report including recently published studies.
FDA's commissioner will review the science, consider the recommendations made to her, and make a decision on how to proceed by 30 of November.
