In a surprising new development, the media mogul Rupert Murdoch is seriously looking at putting a potential block on Google from indexing his news websites. Rupert is currently moving forward with his plans to charge for access to the content on his websites, and therefore wants to take some drastic measures.
Becoming more and more critical of search engines, the Murdoch Empire, which consists of giants such as the Sun, the Times, Sky and the Wall Street Journal, has termed these engines as “content kleptomaniacs and parasites".
Clarifying his stance on banning Google from blocking indexing of his sites, Murdoch as recently quoted as saying, "I think we will, but that's when we start charging. We have it already with the Wall Street Journal. We have a wall, but it's not right to the ceiling. You can get, usually, the first paragraph from any story - but if you're not a paying subscriber to WSJ.com all you get is a paragraph and a subscription form".
So far, there have been no confirmations, neither with regards to when the Murdoch websites will start charging for complete stories, nor on when Google will be blocked.
