Going by the recent data forwarded by statistics company Net Applications, the adoption of Microsoft's new Windows 7 operating system is on the rise - with the OS accounting for nearly 4 percent of all PC-access to the Web during the past weekend.
Clearly, Windows 7 has outpaced Microsoft's 2007-released Windows Vista - the much-slandered OS that achieved 4 percent market share in six months - and, if it can keep the momentum going, it might help in easing Microsoft's plunging-quarterly-revenue trend of late, given the strong sales of the company's other products.
Statistics from Net Applications have revealed that Windows 7 is growing by leaps and bounds - gaining 84 percent since its October 22 release, the OS crossed 3 percent market share mark by November 1; and broke the 4 percent barrier between November 6 and November 7.
Referring to the notable ascend of Windows 7 OS, Vince Vizzaccaro - Net Applications' Executive VP - said in an e-mail: "The early anticipation and high expectations for Windows 7 seem to have been warranted."
In its aggressive efforts to push Windows 7, Microsoft is offering discounts and promotional offers to retailers like Best Buy. In addition, the company is also going out to facilitate the Windows XP users' shift over to Windows 7, via a series of tools including Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor as well as step-by-step instructions on its Web site.
