Two separate enquiries have been called in for investigating the pricing of the drug industry this week since they continue working on the law to enhance the health care system of the nation.
There are concerns among the lawmakers that the companies are attempting to reap gains before the reforms can be made in the pricing. The drug-makers are being forced partly to fund alterations which aim to boost the number of Americans covered by health insurance.
Senator Bill Nelson, who represents many older Americans in the state of Florida said, "I want to know if there's a back-door move underway by the drugmakers to recover some of the concessions they've promised for health care reform."
Nelson also questioned the Department of Health and Human Services’ inspector general to investigate the issue.
The U. S. House of Representatives Ways and Means and Energy and Commerce Committees leaders said via a letter to the Government Accountability Office (GAO) that they would look for an alternate analysis of pricing trends following the health enhancement measures are implemented.
This letter was sent late Tuesday following the country’s leading lobbying group for senior Americans during the initial part of the week ridiculed an estimated 9 percent rise in prices for some of the most-widely used medicines.
