After a long wait, the sleek, iconic Apple iPhone will finally hit the South Korea markets November 28! The popular communications device will be offered by the country's foremost phone and Internet firm, the Seongnam-based KT Corp.
According to a recent announcement, KT Corp, which Sunday began accepting online and in-store orders for the iPhone, the device will be sold to 1,000 customers, who made advance reservations, on the launch day.
KT said that the 32-GB iPhone 3G S will sell for 132,000 won, with a 24-month payment plan. In addition, the carrier will further follow-up with the 16-GB 3G S and the 8-GB 3G models.
While Steve Park, the Apple spokesman in Seoul, confirmed the iPhone-specific KT announcement, he did not disclose any sales projections, as South Korean consumers largely favor local manufacturers like Samsung and LG.
Incidentally, South Korea has lagged behind the other Asian countries in terms of the iPhone launch - the device, which is available in 86 countries and territories worldwide, is already being sold in China, Japan, and India.
Noting that the iPhone is available in 86, as per the Apple Web site, Kim Woo-sik, CEO of KT's personal customer group, said: "We are thrilled to bring iPhone to South Korea. Our customers will enjoy the power and benefits of using the revolutionary iPhone on KT's 3G network."
