The newest handheld gaming console, the super-sized DSi XL, has been launched this week by the device's maker Nintendo in its own home country - Japan. The new console, which is called DSi LL in Japan, will be launched in the US and Europe early next year.
The company had begun seeking pre-orders for the new handheld console, which will give a further push to the 'on-the-go' gaming experience, from the interested potential buyers on its import site last month.
Internally the same as its predecessor and Nintendo's "best-selling handheld game console" - the original DSi, the new DSi XL boasts two 4.2-inch screens; and an increased battery life of 13-
17 hours.
Going by Famitsu reports, nearly one hundred customers lined up outside Akihabara's Yodobashi Camera to witness the launch of the DSi XL, which will sell at the earlier reported cost of ¥20,000.
As per Nintendo claims, the fairly large handheld gaming console is essentially aimed at the elderly gamers, who will particularly appreciate the bigger eye-friendly screen of the device.
Some reports of late have also noted that the Nintendo handheld console developers are still looking at the option of introducing a 3G-capable handheld some time in the near future, thereby giving the clear indication that the DSi maker is eyeing the increasingly productive smartphone market!
