IUN planning to record flu cases

The students of Indiana University Northwest (IUN) are being encouraged to self-report all cases of H1N1 symptoms electronically in order to keep track of suspected or confirmed cases of the flu.

The authorities are urging students and staff members to take part in a online survey or submit an email if they experience flu-like symptoms.

They promise to keep all information confidential and private and only be used for the purpose of recording and evaluating the status of H1N1 cases on the IUN campus.

The faculty members are also requested to make a report vial the online survey about the absent students. Those who note an unusual number of class cancellations are also asked to report this through the survey.

The H1N1 symptoms include high fever, sore throat, cough, body aches and fatigue, nausea and gastrointestinal distress.

IUN also urges its staff and students to continue to take basic precautions against the spread of the H1N1 or seasonal flu viruses. Washing and sanitizing hands frequently, covering the mouth while sneezing or coughing and remaining home when flu-like symptoms are present, are some of the basic steps that can be taken as a precaution.
