Yahoo: ‘Deep integration’ of Facebook with Yahoo products in 2010 first half

According to a recent Yahoo announcement, the Yahoo-Facebook tie-up will move a step further in the 2010 first half, when a broader implementation of Facebook’s Connect technology across Yahoo will enhance the integration points between both the sites.

With Yahoo working out what it calls a ‘deep integration’ of Facebook with services like Yahoo Mail and Yahoo News, the users of the Yahoo and Facebook will be able to increasingly link their actions across the two sites.

As a result of the proposed, the visitors to the Yahoo home page will get a complete view of a full “news feed” of the activity of their Facebook friends. Moreover, they would be able to use their Facebook name and password for leaving comments on news stories at sites like Yahoo! Sports and Yahoo! Finance.

Furthermore, the changes will allow users to send their Yahoo-site-created content, like Flickr photos, to Facebook with the click of a button.

At present, the Yahoo-Facebook team-up enables the users to call up their Facebook activity streams as well as post status updates from the Yahoo home page.

Commenting on the proposed Yahoo integration of Facebook Connect, Jim Stoneham, Yahoo’s VP of communities, said in an official blog that the move will provide users “with richer experiences across the Yahoo products, such as Yahoo Mail, Yahoo News, Yahoo Answers and Yahoo Sports.”
