Study: Women lead a happier life than men

Going by the findings of a recent study, women tend to lead a much happier lives than men, in spite of their somewhat general depiction as niggling human beings. Statistically speaking, the study found that women surpass men, in terms of getting pleasure in life, by almost 15 minutes per day!

Noting that women generally enjoy the way they spend their time, Dr Roger Patulny – fellow of the Social Policy Research Centre at the University of New South Wales – elaborated that adding up life’s good and bad times together, “men have about 10 minutes less time that they enjoy than women in a day and six minutes more time that they dislike.”

The findings of the study are amusing, given the fact that women are involved in the ‘biggest negative’ – housework – for nearly 90 minutes each day, vis-à-vis their male counterparts who are engaged in the so-called ‘unenjoyable’ chores for only 50 minutes per day.

With the research also noting that women mostly endured more ‘bad’ time than men in paid work and commuting, Patulny stated that not only do the women appear ‘happier’ when questioned about how satisfied they are with life, but they also actually ‘enjoy’ more happy times than men.

Patulny added that the comparatively ‘less’ happiness of men resulted from their tendency to be socially aloof, and because of the fairly less time they spent with families and friends.
