While security experts opine that Facebook's last-week-updated privacy settings raise increased security concerns, the privacy controls are also beneficial to the extent that they facilitate the presentation of different information to the users' business contacts and personal friends, though the process is somewhat complicated.
In fact, with the newly-introduced privacy changes, one single Facebook account can help a user present his/her life in different ways to different groups of people. This can be done by segregating friends into fitting sub-lists and adjusting the privacy settings for every post.
The segregation into sub-lists allows users to restrict business contacts from viewing their blatantly 'personal' posts; as well as keep friends from seeing your communication with co-workers and clients.
Though some necessary inline changes to the available settings have already been made by Facebook, thereby allowing Friend Lists to be made private, the new settings - which allow posts to be displayed to 'Friends,' 'Friends of Friends, or 'Everyone' - would help users maintain separate business and personal lives on the social networking site.
Furthermore, there is also a "customize" option, using which the Facebook users can allow or disallow a particular post to be shown to specific individuals or groups. The use of this option implies that, depending on the user's selection, any particular post can include some people and exclude others at the same time.
