American and Canadian Tourists Preferred to Stay Home in October

Official Government data released has revealed that while American tourists made much fewer trips to Canada, and Canadians preferred to stay home as well, tourists from other overseas locations, however, flocked to the country for the month of October.

According to figures shared by Stats Canada, only 1.6 million trips were made by US residents to Canada, which is 2.6% down as compared to the previous month's figures and the first decline in four months.

While same-day road trips slipped by 1.3% to 617,000, overnight trips also declines by 2.7% to some 943,000 stays.

A positive development that the figures revealed was that for October, overnight trips by tourists from other countries managed to hike by 3.2% to 332,000, while is highest figure recorded for travelers from abroad in over 6 months.

The number of tourists coming in from UK, which is one of Canada's largest overseas markets, climbed 15.3% to 62,000 trips.

Canadians themselves preferred to stay at home, making a total of mere 4 million trips, which is 1% lower than the figure recorded for September.
