End of White Americans' Majority Pushed Back 8 Years

Figures shared by the Census Bureau on Wednesday have revealed that, on the back of recession and stricter immigration lawyers, the estimated time by which the White Americans' majority in the country would end has been pushed back by 8 whole years.

The growth of minority groups in the US has been stopped by the financial meltdown and tightening of immigrations laws post the September 11 attacks, and if the same trends continue, whites would make up the majority of the population till 2050, and not the earlier estimated year of 2042.

Also, the Bureau had earlier predicted that America would hit the 400-million population mark by 2039, but if the same norms continue, even the hitting of the target figure would be pushed back to 2050.

Currently, US are 308 million people strong, with about two-third of them being non-Hispanic whites. The total population is expected to reach 399 million by 2050, as per the new estimates, with whites making up about 49.9% of all the people, and blacks would make up for 12.2% of the population.

The Hispanic and Asian population is expected to rise to 28% and 4.4% of the total population, respectively.
