Apple has, after a long wait, issued a firmware update for all the 27-inch iMacs aimed that fixing the display problems that have been reported by numerous users from all over.

"The 27-inch iMac Graphics Firmware Update applies to the graphics firmware on ATI Radeon HD 4670 and 4850 graphics cards to address issues that may cause image corruption or the display to flicker", said Apple.

Since the new machines hit the markets, display issues have marred the 27-inch iMacs, which has hurt the sales of these products which were, to begin with, selling faster than ever. In addition to flickering of the display, users have reported "cracked screens and a yellow tint in part of the display".

Although Apple has released the firmware update, it is still not promising that it will completely fix the problem for all users. "If your screen remains black after applying the updater or if you continue to experience image corruption or display flickering after successfully completing this update, contact AppleCare or an Apple Authorized Service Provider", the company has said.

Also, user’s reviews that floated in just hours after the release have been mixed, with many users reporting that the update has not helped in any way.

Even after the release of the firmware, Apple's site has listed the shipping time for the new iMac as 2 weeks.
