'Mamma Mia' Sinks Titanic's UK Record

Who would have thought it, but the romantic ABBA themed musical comedy 'Mamma Mia!' has finally sunk the 10-year grip of 'Titanic' at the U. K. box office, replacing the maritime romance as the highest-grossing movie ever released in the U. K., singing its way to selling £69.1 million ($105.8 million) worth of tickets, compared with £69-million pounds for 'Titanic'.

Winning two Golden Globe nominations, for Best Picture (musical or comedy), with Meryl Streep being nominated as Best Actress (musical or comedy). Calling 'Mamma Mia!' success 'Truly phenomenal!' UPI president David Kosse says its' box office record is a tribute to everyone who worked so brilliantly on the film.

However, 'Titanic' has yet to be replaced as the biggest film ever released worldwide.
