Will Apple unveil its long-rumored tablet device on Jan 26?

The rumors galore about a forthcoming Apple tablet gathered fresh momentum on Wednesday, with the Financial Times reports, citing "people familiar with the plans," saying that a stage has been booked by Apple at San Francisco's Yerba Buena Center for the Arts for "several days" in January-end.

The Financial Times' report specifically stated: "Apple is expected to use the venue to make a major product announcement on Tuesday, January 26th" - and the 'major product' might just be the
10-inch, 3G-enabled tablet device, which has been widely speculated to debut in early 2010.

However, it is also possible that Apple focuses on incremental storage upgrades for iPods, or processor upgrades on MacBook Pros, at the Yerba Buena Center event.

Though there has been no official confirmation about the proceedings from Apple, the supposition that the January 26 media event would see Apple announce its plan pertaining to the launch of its rumored tablet, is largely based on earlier reports about the device.

While a previous post by the Financial Times had said that Apple's long-rumored touchscreen device was scheduled to be unveiled in January 2010; Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster too opined that there was a 75 percent likelihood of Apple holding a special event in January to introduce its tablet device; and even Silicon Alley Insider hinted at a January demo of the long-rumored tablet.
