According to the most recent information forwarded by an Engadget “tipster,” the first set of units of the Google phone – probably to be called ‘Nexus One’ - will likely hit the markets as early as the beginning of January!
With Google having confirmed its rumored phone only last week, the Engadget source-in-the-know said that the ‘gadgeteers’ had been supplied an exhaustive list of beguiling specifications for the HTC-built, Android-based Google phone.
The “tipster” further revealed that even though Google essentially plans selling unlocked versions of its forthcoming phone, the device will also be expectedly launched with T-Mobile for 3G service – with the hope that T-Mobile will handle the potentially massive dataphone traffic in a much better way than AT&T does for the iPhone!
Going by the Engadget report, the 11.5 mm ‘slim’ Google Nexus One features a 3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED display; 5-megapixel camera; Micro SD Card support; a digital compass; an accelerometer; Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR; and GPS and cell-tower location services.
Furthermore, the Google phone also clearly betters the Apple iPhone in terms of a removable battery; and the Broadcom-based WiFi support which, listed to be a full a/b/g/n complement, as against iPhone’s b/g support.
Despite the fact that the Google Nexus One does not feature a hardware keyboard, the device is certainly a ‘premium’ Android brand that Google plans releasing as its official ‘Google phone’!
