Close on the heels of Barnes and Noble (B&N)’s last week announcement that if customers who pre-ordered Nook e-reader did not have the device delivered on time, they would receive a $100 online gift certificate, the company now says that all the devices will be delivered in time for Christmas.
Noting that B&N will be able to fulfill its Nook delivery obligations for the holiday season, the company’s spokeswoman Mary Ellen Keating said on Wednesday that the company is notifying the buyers that all the orders, taken before November 20, are being shipped “in time.”
Consumerist posted a B&N e-mail that read thus: “Although your shipment has been slightly delayed, we are aiming for your order to leave our warehouse in time for you to receive it by December 24.
The email further said: “If for whatever reason we are not able to ship your nook in time for arrival by December 24, with our sincerest apologies, we will send you an email notification on December 23 with a $100 Barnes&Noble. com Online Gift Certificate to use as you wish at BN. com.”
However, there has been no disclosure about the exact number of Nooks to be shipped by December 24; even though the company has earlier said that the late October-launched e-reader is sold out for holidays. As such, all the post-November 20 orders will be shipped by February 1, 2010.
