Despite the Christmas holiday week, stocks rose to making the market look a bit sound.
Dow and the S&P 500 positioned the weekly gains of 1.9 percent and 2.2 percent, respectively. Nasdaq also saw an upswing with a weekly gain of 3.3 percent.
The Dow shares were trading at 10,520.10, which were up 53.66 points, or 0.51 percent, whereas S&P 500 Index also hit a new 52-week range at 1,126.48 with a gain of 5.89.
The Jobless claims also fell on 19 December at 452,000 while the previous week’s was 480,000.
The orders of durables were also high by 0.2 percent in November which was a low of 0.6 percent in October.
Traders were optimistic on the Commerce Department data released which revealed that for November, the orders for durable goods hiked by 0.2%, after an unrevised 0.6% decline for October.
Also, the financial sector managed to race ahead, with all major bank stocks managing to budge higher than usual.
