Legal Attack on Healthcare Revamp Bill Led by South Carolina AG

Henry McMaster, the South Carolina Republican Attorney General is currently in the process of leading a major effort to rally other states into joining him to mount a possible legal challenge to the Government's healthcare reform bill.

Nebraska has been exempted from the $100 Million involved in new Medicaid costs by the Senate Democratic leaders over the coming 10 years, to secure the support of Senator Ben Nelson, whose vote is highly necessary for the Democrat if they want to move the proposed legislation to the final Senate passage by early Thursday.

Senator McMaster's claim that it is unconstitutional to give Nebraska preferential treatment has garnered the support of South Carolina Republican Senators Lindsey Graham and Jim DeMint.

"I would argue that the exemption of Nebraska was done in a way that violates the constitution because it's a tax on 49 other states that's being levied, and we're paying Nebraska's share. It certainly doesn't pass the smell test", said Senator Graham.

As confirmed by Senator McMaster, Attorney Generals in Pennsylvania and Utah have also joined hands with him, bring the number of states that have joined the protest to 10. Mr. McMaster is currently running in the Republican primary for South Carolina Governor.
