AT&T has reportedly withdrawn iPhone online sales from NYC and its suburbs
AT&T

Going by the reports on a number of site, including The Consumerist and Boy Genius Report, AT&T, which has been facing serious network issues in a New York City (NYC) has withdrawn from the online sales of iPhone to customers residing in the NYC and its suburbs.

As per the reports, the NYC zip code is missing from the online iPhone purchase list of AT&T - and users desirous of buying the device from AT&T online simply cannot order them.

The Tech Herald has reported that a 'check' of several New York zip codes has revealed that iPhone sales have been blocked for Brooklyn, New York City, the Bronx, and Yonkers.

Moreover, there is no concise explanation being given by AT&T's online sales representatives. While one representative said told The Consumerist that the reason why iPhones were missing from the online sales list was that "New York is not ready for the iPhone"; another representative claimed the reason to be "increased fraudulent activity" in certain ZIP codes.

In fact, of all its US markets, the service of AT&T has constantly been hit by network problems in the NYC, along with San Francisco and Los Angeles, ever since the launch of the device. Most of the network issues have resulted largely because of the ever-increasing data usage by Phone users, as well as the somewhat underdeveloped 3G network in these markets.
