Among all the other conjecturing going around about the supposedly forthcoming Apple tablet, 'iSlate' as it will likely be called, one of the most heated discussions about the device apparently is whether the device would fit the bill as a mobile computer.
There are two different opinions that experts hold about the status of the Apple tablet device - while some believe that the tablet to be an almost 10-inch tablet PC with a full Mac OS X operating system; others opine that it will merely be a larger-screen edition of the present iPod Touch, which has a closed, limited phone-like operating system.
Those believing that the Apple tablet will support a Mac OS X feel that the device would, most probably, run any software that users run on a MacBook, from Firefox to Photoshop, and maybe even install Windows 7 via Boot Camp or Parallels.
However, in case the tablet happens to be an iPod Touch version, the apps would necessitate the requisite approval and would only be sold via an official app store.
While the much-limited initial indications about the Apple tablet hinted that it is similar to a touch-screen, keyboard-less version of Apple's existing laptops; some earlier rounds of rumors pointed decisively towards an iPhone or iPod Touch style device. However, the most recent buzz is that the tablet is probably does not feature a full PC-style operating system.
