Recent reports have revealed that Apple has placed massive orders for 10 inch displays, in addition to strong glass panels and connectors to go with them. The speculations have been put forwards by two separate reports from the Far East, which have estimated that the components are for the company's much anticipated tablet device.
As per speculations shared by DigiTimes, the primary supplier of the 10 inch panels will be Foxconn's panel-making subsidiary Innolux, and Wintek, which has been associated with Apple by the virtue of the iPhone, will be taking care of filling the various remaining orders.
The Taiwanese rumor site has, citing sources from the company's component suppliers, asserted that there are reports that the firm as been seeking solutions to strengthen the glass of the 10-inch panel for the tablets". It is supposedly this move which has been delaying the launch of the device until 2010's first quarter.
After a thorough analysis of the shipping schedules of Apple's component suppliers, DigiTimes has estimated that the company might just be announcing the new tablet in January next year, with production to start by March.
