In a development which will make things much easier for travelers, Glasgow Airport has announced a major 25 Million Pounds expansion aimed at improving facilities for passengers and traffic success to the venue over the coming two years.
Under the planned developments are improvement of the airport's road system, a new food court for travels and a new lighting system for the runway, in addition to upgrades to the airfield's taxiway.
Over the next year, the airport will invest 12 Million Pounds, followed by an additional 13 Million Pounds in 2011.
Come 2014, the year when Glasgow will be hosting the Commonwealth Games, the airport is looking at spending around 85 Million to 100 Million Pounds to improve facilitates.
The main passenger lounge of the airport, the Skylongue, will be completely revamped, in addition to improvement to the internal layouts which will be seen mainly in the terminal building.
Also, the Glasgow Airport is contributing 1 Million Pounds towards the expenses involved in the extension of M74.
"These improvements will deliver a better passenger experience, provide enhanced terminal facilities, and improve the efficiency of our taxiway and runway infrastructure, which are essential for the smooth operation of the airport", said Amanda McMillan, Managing Director of Glasgow Airport.
