Patent Lawsuit Settled by Fairchild and Infineon

As confirmed by the company, Fairchild Semiconductor International Inc has managed to reach a successful patent settlement deal with Infineon Technologies. It has also been confirmed that both the companies have entered into a cross-license deal now.

In November of 2008, both the firms had filed patent infringement lawsuits against each other in courts of Maine and Delaware.

As shared by Fairchild, the cross-license with Infineon has been with regards to the semiconductor technology, but the terms and conditions of the deal have not been disclosed yet by any of the parties involved.

On the back of the settlement and cross-license, Fairchild is expected to record a charge of a whopping $6 Million during the current fiscal year's fourth quarter.

The lawsuit, filed more than a year back, involved 14 patents related to "super-junction power transistors; trench power metal--oxide--semiconductor field-effect transistor, or MOSFETs; and insulated gate bipolar transistor, or IGBT, power transistors".
