Among firms which have managed to shine in Tuesday's trading sessions in Canada, and also record some significant changes, are Corriente Resources Inc. and Goldcorp Inc., both mainly on the back of takeover and acquisition plans.
As confirmed by Corriente, which recently recorded a per share value of C$8.48, China Railway Construction Corp. and Tongling Nonferrous Metals Group Holdings Co. have placed a bid to purchase the company for C$8.60 per share, which would bring the total value of the deal at C$679 Million.
On the other hand, Goldcorp, with the most recent trading value of C$41.34, has been given until January 5 to make suitable changes to its takeover offer for Canplats Resources Corp., which has also received an offer from Minera Penmont.
The bid put forward by Goldcorp has placed the per Canplats share value at C$4.40, which is substantially below the C$4.80 which is being offered by Penmont.
In general, however, gold stocks were trading on the lower end during Tuesday.
