Canada recalls toxic toys shoe accessories

Health Canada has recalled toys, jewellery and shoe accessories after reports of lead toxicity. Toronto Star investigations revealed that the products contained dangerous levels of lead. Both the products were both manufactured in China. The health Canada has announced should be taken from children and thrown away.

About 7,000 toy guns and 35,000 packages of charms for Croc shoes have been recalled. Both the products were available at the dollar stores. Earlier Star Canada had detected toxicity in toys and jewellery.

According to experts say sucking on or mouthing a lead-laced toy can cause serious damage. The damage might not be apparent to doctors or caregivers instantly and might show up years later. Symptoms of lead poisoning – such as irritability, a drop in IQ and poor school performance could easily be confused with other ailments. Repeated sucking on or swallowing heavily leaded items can also cause prolonged vomiting, diarrhea and cramping or maybe death in severe cases.
