Yemen Embassy Closed by US Post Al-Qaeda Threats

On Sunday, the American embassy in Yemen closed as a result of the ongoing threats from Al-Qaeda about attacking the US interests, as has been confirmed by the embassy.

"The US Embassy in Sanaa is closed today, January 3, 2010, in response to ongoing threats by Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) to attack American interests in Yemen", the embassy said in an official statement.

The US mission circulated a warden message on Thursday to the American citizens across the country reminding them of the "continuing threat of terrorist actions and violence against American citizens and interests throughout the world".

On Monday, AQAP had called for future attacks on any Westerns there are in the Arabic Peninsula, as the group claimed responsibility on the foiled attack on the US flight from Amsterdam to Detroit on Christmas Day.

"We call upon every Muslim who cares about his religion and doctrine to assist in expelling the apostasies from the Arabian Peninsula, by killing every crusader who works at their embassies or other places, declare it an all-out war against every crusader on Mohammad's peninsula on land, air and sea", said an AQAP statement.
