On Thanksgiving Day, Paul Michael Merhige killed four of his family members, and over the past month, he had become the subject of one of the country's biggest and most large-scale manhunts. The suspect has now been arrested.
The fugitive was placed under arrest by Jupiter police early on Sunday and is being interrogated, as has been confirmed by the authorities.
On a tip off which was received by the police on late Saturday, the officials went to Edgewater Lodge at mile marker 65.5 in the Florida Keys. The tipster on the phone had called to report that a person strongly resembling the 35 year old suspect had checked into a motel on December 02. He has reportedly used the false name "John Baca".
The address provided by him for the records was of Homestead. All the details have been confirmed by the Jupiter Police Department.
Merhige was alone in his room and made no attempts to run away or evade the police.
As confirmed by the Palm Beach County State Attorney Michael McAuliffe, Merhige now faces charges of four counts of first-degree murder and "and at least one count of attempted first-degree murder"
