In a development which results in many flights running hours behind schedule, a man managed to walk right through a screening checkpoint exit, and into the secure side of a terminal, at the Newark Liberty International Airport, which is one of the busiest airports in the US. The incident happened on Saturday night, and flights were grounded for hours on end as all the travelers had to be re-screened, as the air safety officers searched for the man.
Nearly 6 hours after the man was seen skirting the security, passengers at the airport were allowed to board their flights.
At about 5:30 PM on Saturday, as confirmed by the Transportation Security Administration spokeswoman Ann Davis, a man was seen walking down an exit lane at the airport's Terminal C, and as a result, screening was ceased while authorities looked at the surveillance tapes to try to identify him.
Travelers, meanwhile, waited n the check-in areas.
After the terminal was searched properly, and no dangerous objects were found, the terminal was opened again at 11:45 PM. Although the man was not found, the TSA assured that the re- screening effort ensured that all travelers were safe.
