The recent search by the Redskins for a head coach ended in less than two days, when it came to a decision to replace Jim Zorn with Mike Shanahan as the team’s head coach, revealed various reports.

Shanahan, 57, the former Broncos coach who lead his teams to 2 Super Bowl wins, had arrived in Washington on Monday, just hours after, on the same day, the Redskins fired Jim Zorn for the required discussions regarding the contract.

The meeting at Snyder's house was aimed to discuss organizational structure and philosophy. The discussions were productive, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, who co-authored a book with Shanahan.

Shanahan summoned his agent Sandy Montag on Tuesday morning to Washington to proceed with the parameters and details of the final contract.

An average $7 million, five-year contract of has been agreed upon by both the parties.

"I think it's great", Redskins linebacker London Fletcher said Tuesday night. "Being able to add a two-time Super Bowl-winning head coach, it's phenomenal. He commands respect from the players right away.... He instantly becomes the face of the franchise".

A 16 season experience as a head couch, compiling a 154-103 record, and the two Super Bowl championships glorify his resume.
