A day after their photographs were released to the media, 5 men wanted by the police in connection with a case of sexual assault which happened on New Year's Eve, have surrendered. On Thursday, just after 6 AM, the men contacted their lawyers and handed themselves to the officers at the downtown 51 division police station.
"They're in the process of being charged. They are going through the interviews", said Const. Wendy Drummond.
Once the police are done taking statements from the accused, the men will all be formally charged and will appear before the court by the end of the day, and that is when the police will officially reveal their identities.
The report which led to the arrest of these men was lodged by two women who told the police that they had met the men at a New Year's Eve party, the Princess Ball, at Allstream Centre in Exhibition Place.
They said that the men followed them back to their hotel and entered their room uninvited, and sexually assaulted them before leaving.
Photos from the party were posted on a party-promotion website, beforelastcall. com, and the women identified all five of the men.
