Palm, which at last year’s CES announced its Pre smartphone exclusively on Sprint, has this year unveiled two new devices for Verizon Wireless this year. As per the Palm announcement, the new smartphones for Verizon – the Pre Plus and the Pixi Plus - will be available to the carrier’s subscribers from January 25 onwards.
Though Palm has not yet disclosed the price-tag of its new “Plus” models for Verizon, it has specified that the devices will be equipped with VZ Navigator that will help provide audible turn-by-turn directions to the users; and the phones will be capable of serving as mobile hot spots for as many as five Wi-Fi-enabled devices.
While the forthcoming Pre Plus will have 16 gigabytes storage capacity, simplified navigation and an inductive back cover for facilitating the use of Palm’s Touchstone charging station; the Pixi Plus will feature built-in Wi-Fi and more color choices for the device’s back cover.
In addition, the Verizon Pre Plus, which will be a wee bit smaller than Sprint’s Pre, will feature a vibrant 3.1-inch 480 x 320 multi-touch screen; 3-megapixel camera with flash; GPS; and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Thanks to a plus-sized boost to its CPU, the webOS interface coasting on the Pre Plus will be essentially a faster overall experience. Further, the enhanced performance of the CPU will also enable new 3D gaming.
