'Daybreakers', an over-the-top carnage

Daybreakers, a recent flick, has hordes of stomach twisting scenes with a lot of blood shown. In Daybreakers it's 2019 and a global epidemic has overtaken the population. Only a few humans are left after a decade of the viral outbreak. Human beings after being hunted down for plasma have become endangered. The world looms under severe blood shortage.

But take the film as a zombie movie with a thin finish of vampire lore.

"Subsiders" are rounded up by the cops and the army as they prey on people for feeding themselves.

This is exactly where Ed Dalton, a scientist looking for a cure, comes in. Dalton’s character is being played by Ethan Hawke. Dalton survives on animal blood being a vampire. He helps his brother, Michael Dorman, and a group of three people and helps them escape the military.

The dialogues are common but those said by Willem Dafoe as Elvis, a human turned vampire turned human, are good.

Daybreakers is entertaining and gets a "C+" for effort out in by the director and the cast, but for being over-the-top carnage an "A-".
