On Saturday, President Barack Obama stressed that America would see immediate and effective benefits from the major overhaul of the country's medical insurance program, and urged the Congress to quickly reconcile the differences they currently have on the legislation so that it can be signed into a law over the coming few weeks.
"Once I sign health insurance reform into law, doctors and patients will have more control over their health care decisions, and insurance company bureaucrats will have less. All told, these changes represent the most sweeping reforms and toughest restrictions on insurance companies that this country has ever known", President Obama said.
Various elements of the plan that would be effective immediately after the enactment of the bill were highlighted by the President in his weekly Saturday address. He shared that people who are suffering from pre-existing illnesses would be able to purchase affordable insurance and children with pre-existing conditions would no longer be denied medical coverage.
Also, owners of small-sized businesses, who cannot afford to cover their employees, would be receiving tax credits, which would make it much easier for them to buy insurance.
"What every American should know is that once I sign health insurance reform into law, there are dozens of protections and benefits that will take effect this year", Mr. Obama said.
