TetherBerry, an application for BlackBerry smartphones which allows users to access their phone's Internet connection on a laptop computer, has been re-branded as 'Tether'.
The reason behind the change is that the concerned application is going to be made available to handsets other than BlackBerry smartphones.
Reports suggest that the application, which is available in the BlackBerry App World right now, will also be extended to Google Android-based smartphones.
It was informed that an Android version is in beta testing which gives birth to speculation that its release is imminent. Apple's iPhone is also touted as a future platform for the application.
Halifax-based company claimed that the Tether application has already been installed on over 60,000 BlackBerry smartphones.
Currently, company is offering Tether at 50 per cent discount at C$27.21.
