James Cameron's Avatar has managed to be rank as the top flick for the fourth consecutive weekend, shattering all previous box office records. The sci-fi epic had, by the time Friday night rolled in, managed to collect $13.3 Million, making it the number one movie of the weekend once again.
Although the Avatar magic does seem to be fading away a bit, with the collection figures falling 47% since New Year's Day, many are of the opinion that this was the first non-holiday weekend since the movie's opening and this could be the main reason behind the fall.
While domestically Avatar's collections have been $393.8 Million, globally the flick has made a whopping $1 Billion.
Second place in the box office report has been bagged by "Daybreakers", Lionsgate's new thriller with Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe and Sam Neill in the lead roles, which had managed to garner an honorable $5.8 Million by Friday evening, and the third position went to "Sherlock Holmes", which made about a million less than Daybreakers.
"Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel" and "Leap Year" by Universal gained the fourth and fifth spot, respectively. Last week's "It's Complicated" fell into a comfortable sixth place.
