Early adopters of ‘Nexus One’ complaining about unsatisfactory 3G connectivity

The newly-released Google ‘Nexus One’ smartphone is already facing a spate of complaints by the early adopters of the phone, who are moaning about the unsatisfactory 3G connectivity of T-Mobile, the carrier that runs the device.

As per the customer complaints, though there does not appear to be any problem with the device itself, the 3G connections are dropping to T-Mobile’s slower 2G Edge network.

As such, the underlying problem is essentially the same in the several hundred messages posted to Google's support Web site, as of Monday evening – while most customers have said that the 3G connections are spotty and variable; some have complained about the complete non-existence of 3G connectivity.

In a statement, a spokesperson for HTC, the maker of the Google phone, said: “While the majority of Nexus One owners have been thrilled with their experience, HTC is aware that some owners have reported having some technical issues with their Nexus One devices. HTC, Google, and T-Mobile take all such reports very seriously, and are working closely together to determine what issues may be behind these reports.”

T-Mobile, like most of the wireless carriers, has been hard pressed to keep pace with the streams of data that the smartphones generate. Even after purchasing over $4 billion in advanced wireless services spectrum, the carrier is apparently still struggling to cope up with the ever-increasing customer demand.
