This year’s International Consumer Electronics Show, held at Las Vegas last week, witnessed a 6 percent year-on-year increase in the number of visitors – with the number of visitors this time round rising to 120,000; though the number was lesser than the 2008 figures of 130,000 visitors at the event.
The increased number of visitors, vis-à-vis the 2009 number is a good indication of the show’s success, coming at a time when the economy is still recovering from the devastating global downturn; and companies and customers are still reluctant of spending money.
One of the foremost reasons due to which the CES reportedly came back on track this year was the bettering economic scenario. Despite the fact that the unemployment figures are still rather disquieting at 10 percent, the buyers have shown the willingness to increase their spending.
In addition, the ‘Wow’ factor associated with this year’s CES – with a wide array of next-generation products being unveiled, particularly 3-D products – has served as a notable attraction for the visitors, who desired to take a peek at the on-display 3-D TVs, e-readers, slate PCs and wireless inventions.
Moreover, with hotels offering rooms at lower prices, and some even coming up with other bargains to tempt shoppers; and the temperature hovering around the 64-degrees mark this month, the CES event got a much need boost this time!
