On Thursday, Duncan McIntosh, the Irvine-based trade show firm and publisher of boating and fishing magazine, purchased newspaper trade magazine Editor & Publisher, and online reporting on the sold off publication's website and blogs resumed immediately after the purchase, two weeks after both the online and monthly print editions were shut down by Nielsen Co.

No financial details of the deal were shared by the media trade magazine, which has been a part of the print industry for over 100 years now.

"Such a critical information source for a newspaper industry so desperately in need of help should not go away. I've been a reader of E&P over the course of 30 years and know its incredible value to readers and advertisers", said Duncan McIntosh to Editor & Publisher.

Charles "Chas" McKeown will continue to act as the publisher of Editor & Publisher, a New York-based business, and will oversee a staff of 5. Mark Fitzgerald, who had been offering his services as editor-at-large, has been named the editor and he was being replacing Greg Mitchell.

Duncan is looking to publish a February issue of the magazine and continue with the monthly publications.
