A price war of sorts is apparently on between the two leading US carriers - the arch-rivals Verizon Wireless and AT&T!
Verizon's Friday announcement about a slash in the cost of its unlimited talk and text plans was immediately followed a similar announcement by AT&T, which also cut the price of one of its voice and data plans for smart phones, including the popular iPhone.
The Verizon price-cut brought about a reduction in the monthly price for unlimited voice minutes on a single line from $99.99 to $69.99; and on a single line with unlimited voice minutes and unlimited messaging from $119.99 to $89.99.
In addition, the Verizon prices on its family plans with unlimited voice minutes as well as the family plans with both unlimited voice and unlimited messaging have also been slashed.
Meanwhile, the AT&T move now allows users the option of an unlimited voice and data plan at $30 less than the earlier per month cost. Monday onwards, A&T will charge $100 per month for unlimited voice and data; in place of the current $100 monthly charges for unlimited voice plan plus an additional $30 charge for unlimited data.
Furthermore, the AT&T 'Family Talk' plans will now feature unlimited voice and data for $180; even though texting prices will remain the same: $20 for unlimited plans and $30 for Family Talk Plans.
