The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Friday stated that a decline was observed in the U. S. states in A/H1N1 flu activity during the first week of 2010 as no reports of flu activity came.
The CDC said on its web site, “Nine states reported regional influenza activity, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and 15 states reported local influenza activity, Guam and 24 states reported sporadic influenza activity, and the U. S. Virgin Islands and two states reported no influenza activity.”
There has been a decline since October across the country when about 48 states reported widespread A/H1N1 flu activity.
The epidemic that started in March might be decreasing but health officials warned that it could come back and was unpredictable. This virus was targeting younger lot more than the elderly as it has killed younger people than seasonal flu does.
"Flu is unpredictable, and this flu season is far from over," Kathleen Sebelius, secretary of health and human services, said earlier this week.
