Colombian drug lord shot dead in Madrid hospital

Madrid - One of Colombia's top drug lords has been shot dead at a Madrid hospital, radio reports said Friday in the Spanish capital.

Leonidas Vargas, 59, was being treated for a stomach problem after being released on bail, police sources were quoted as saying.

Spain's governing party calls Israeli attack on school "detestable"

Madrid - Spain's governing Socialist Party on Wednesday called Israel's attack on a school run by the United Nations in Gaza "detestable" and called for an immediate ceasefire.

"The bombing of schools with civilians inside cannot be tolerated," Socialist Party organizational secretary Leire Pajin said.
